Gymnastics Strength Training Home Edish Part 2 ⠀ ⠀ As promised second edition of Sunday home workouts. This week's movements are more challenging than last Sunday’s, the session should fit within a 25-40 minute time frame, you can perform this 1-5 times a week. The purpose of this workout is working towards fundamental movements in gymnastics:⠀ ⠀ Single leg squats ⠀ Manna⠀ Handstand⠀ ⠀ Perform the variation of the exercise that suits you. ⠀ ⠀ Video 1: Single Leg Squat Eccentric Lowers (5-10 second lowers) OR Single Leg Squats 3-5 x 5 + each leg. I don’t care how you get back up from the lowers just how you GET DOWN. ⠀ ⠀ Video 2: Single Leg Squat ISO hold 3-5 x 15-30 second each leg: Remember the 3 components of strength Isometric (static), Eccentric (lowering phase), and Concentric (push or pull phase). Keep the opposite leg as straight as possible, this will nail the hip flexor.⠀ ⠀ **In bodyweight training it should be required that you first master the isometric portion of the movement, then the eccentric component, by this time you will have enough strength to put the concentric and eccentric together.**⠀ ⠀ Video 3: V-Sit Knees Bent or V-Sit Legs Straight 3-5 x 15-20. Much less spinal compression then a regular sit up also much more challenging. Working staple muscle groups for progression towards a manna. ⠀ ⠀ Video 4: Kettlebell or Dumbbell Windmill 3-5 x 8 each side: This movement will open up your hips big time, keep the legs as straight as possible the same with the arms and pay attention to my foot position. ⠀ ⠀ Video 5: Handstand Hold 3-5 x 30-60 seconds: Get hands close to the wall and push the floor away as much as possible (check my handstand post for more info). ⠀ ⠀ Video 6: Side plank Rotation 3-5 x 15: Thoracic rotation and core work done. ⠀ ⠀ Video 7: Burpee Hell: 40-50 Burpees - rest 60 seconds x 3 Rounds.
