I hadn’t shared a lot of pics from my recent trips thinking I’d get around to it eventually.. especially when on trips where it’s constantly on the go and I find myself not really wanting to be on my phone much!
Figured now’s as good as any time to reminisce and share some of those wonderful times.. Yes I am missing travelling and it looks like there might be none happening this year. Definitely not what I was expecting and I guess no one was expecting this either!
What I’m missing more though is my best friends and darling god daughters tho!
So here we go.. first highlight of India - the Taj Mahal in Agra!
We were not expecting the weather to be so cold nor for it to be smoggy! I had to start layering as I had only packed a light jacket and was expecting it to only be mildly cool... on some mornings it was around 4 degrees 🥶
The Taj we saw wasn’t the typical one you’d see on postcards with the clear blue sky reflecting in the water but this slightly gloomy and smog have it a mysterious kind of beauty.. Needless to say, it was a very impressive structure.
Massive queues and oh-so-many people visiting!
To get there, you go to a station where you’d get shuttled to the entry area using an electric vehicle (gold buggies, electric buses) as those were the only vehicles allowed in order to reduce pollution around the Taj.
Here we also learnt about why people stick so close to your back when they queue - because other opportunistic people at the back will simply weave their way into any gaps and keep jumping and making their way further ahead of the line! Lol
When heading back we decided waiting for the buggies were not warranted so we walked instead.. amongst the cows and horses and push cart stalls and various vehicles beeping away constantly.. It was our first taste of ‘the beeping city’. Alive and bustling, intriguing, so rich in culture, so populated and grounded, and beautiful in its own way.
